The Federal Government has a program for all income eligible seniors 60 years or older where they can receive a box of food that contains:

4 packages of vegetables 1 carbohydrate (pasta)
2 packages of fruit
2 cereals or a bag of oats
2 or 3 bottles of juice

Because of the complexity of the application, we require applicants to come into the Food Bank in New Bloomfield to sign up. If you come in, WE WILL NEED TO SEE a photo ID; applicant's Social Security card; proof of ALL income in the household.

Eldershare Program

The Central Pennsylvania Food Bank’s private ElderShare program provides a monthly box of food to seniors 60 years of age or older whose total household income does not exceed the listed guidelines. ElderShare is in addition to any other food assistance the participant may receive, except that potential participants cannot be current recipients of the USDA’s monthly Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) for low-income seniors.

How to register:

A registration form must be completed by each individual senior that wants to receive a box. The senior must come to the Food Bank in New Bloomfield and sign-up at that location. You must bring your proof of age and proof of income to show that they are at least 60 years of age and that they fall within the requisite income guidelines for eligibility

Once registered, participants will have the opportunity to name a proxy or proxies to pick up their food boxes when they are not able to do so.
