Volunteers
The Food Bank is always looking for volunteers to help with:
• sorting and storing food in the warehouse;
• stocking the shelves in our store;
• assisting families with their shopping;
• assisting with the bagging of food and
• checking out customers after shopping
• assisting customers with carrying their food to their cars
• clerical and office work
Volunteers usually work during one of two shifts— mornings 8:30 to 12:00 and afternoons 12:30 to 3:00. The hours are flexible and we will try to accommodate your schedules.
For reasons of confidentiality and fairness to all of our clients, effective March 1, 2017, we will no longer permit current clients of the Food Bank or their family members to volunteer.
If you are thinking about volunteering and would like more information, or would like to visit and talk with someone, please contact the Food Bank at 717 582-9978 and ask for Mary Ann.
Volunteers of all ages are welcome. Many of the people who help are retired people from all walks of life. We also welcome younger volunteers.
If you are less than 16 years of age, we would ask that an older adult would accompany you. We also welcome groups from churches and schools.
Students needing community service for school, as well as others needing community service to satisfy the courts can also be accommodated.
If you are looking for community service credit, we would ask that you call or stop by and talk with Mary Ann or John.
